Leon was born on Feb.16th, I was on the 23 week + 1 day pregnant and he weighted only 580 gr.(about 1lbs 5 oz) and was 30 cm tall.
First week of life IVH II grade both sides. He had a perfuration on his intestines and had a emergency surgery to repair it. Second week of life, a second perfuration in another portion of the intestine. Massive candida glabrata and staphilococus infections - Sepsis - peritonitis. Third week of life and his third surgery, this time to close his patent ductus arteriosus( PDA). A month ago he was extubated. On his 9th week of life they decided to close one of the colostomies and reconnect the part of the intestine. So he can gain weight. Now they can transfer stool from the remaining colostomy bag to an end of intestine trhu his stomach and he is finally actually using diapers.
He is finally above 1 kilo, 3 lbs to be exact. He can sometimes breathe without C-PAP ( by himself) for more than an hour. He sometimes drinks from the bottle, but is still too much for him. He tires easily, but he never gets tired of his dummy!
We are confident and we are full of hope.
GOD bless our preemies!
